Mother's Day at the Aquarium of the Bay

We celebrated Haruka's first Mother's Day on a picture perfect day in San Francisco. First stop was the Ferry Building where we went on a San Francisco Walking Tour. The Ferry Building and surrounding area went through a complete renovation since the days when I lived in San Francisco back in 1993-96. The Embarcadero is now lined with palm trees and hosts an outdoor farmers market. The Ferry Building's architecture has been beautifully restored. Local vendors at the Ferry Building Marketplace sell everything from organic mushrooms, coffee, teas and pastries; to kitchen goods and jewelry. It was so colorful, charming and lively!

Our second stop was the Aquarium of the Bay  on Pier 39. Naina loved it! We saw tropical fish ("Nemo!"), schools of anchovies inside a great underwater tunnel, a Giant Pacific Octopus, Sevengill sharks, Giant Skates, Moon Jellies and Brown Sea Nettles, colorful starfish, etc. It was so much fun to spend the day together as a family. Sometimes Haruka still can't believe that she's become a Mom at long last! :)
